Loeland was a member of St. Andrew from 1948 to 1960 while growing up on a dairy farm north of Alliston. He is the youngest of nine sons whose names all start with “L” and have seven letters in both their first and second names. He attended Banting Memorial high School. In 1960 he left the farm to start a career in teaching. He obtained his B.A. and M.Ed. degrees by attending night and summer schools at the University of Toronto while teaching. After thirty-five years teaching for the Toronto Board of Education, Loeland retired as a principal in 1996. He and his wife, Janet, have two sons and two grandchildren. In 2000 Loeland and Janet built a country home on eleven acres just outside of Alliston. Loeland returned to St. Andrew to worship. Loeland volunteered with property projects, and was appointed Rector’s Warden in 2007. Loeland and his team of volunteers have completed many property projects such as: new office space for the priest, major renovations to the Parish House to make it a legal duplex, extension of the parking lot by sixty feet, complete renovation of the nursery, and many more. Loeland enjoys curling, lawn bowling, reading, playing euchre, and volunteering.
